We go through situations in life where we need to make decisions, and God might be asking us to say ‘Yes’ to something in faith without knowing all the details. The Israelites followed Moses’s leadership and took the step in faith to leave Egypt without knowing all the details. They didn’t have the exact map to reach the promised land. God was their GPS, and Moses trusted God to lead them one day at a time. God provided for them throughout their journey. Some examples of God’s provision included sending manna from heaven when they were hungry. A few weeks ago, while I was leading worship at Church, we were singing this song, “I’m no longer slave to fear, and then we went to the bridge that said, “You split the sea so that I can walk right through it my fears are drowned in perfect love.” That part of the song stood out to me because God can make a way when we think there is no other way.

We often limit God to our thinking of what He can and cannot do. The Israelites had the sea right before them. I feel the last thing they would have thought was for the sea to be split open so they could walk through it. If I were an Israelite, I would have overanalyzed with my limited thinking, and I might have been frustrated without having a workable solution. How often do we try to come up with our own solution when faced with situations that might seem like there is no way through? I recently read this verse and loved the message version. According to Proverbs 3:4-5, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track” (New American Standard Bible).

Sometimes, we must say “yes” to God without knowing all the details, and that’s called faith. Just because we said ‘yes’ to God doesn’t mean the path ahead will be easy. Check out the article I wrote about a few months ago on the topic: Stepping out in faith According to Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (New American Standard Bible).

If we are confident that God called us to say “yes,” we can trust Him to work out all the details in His timing and in His ways. According to Isaiah 55:8-9, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts” (New American Standard Bible).
