We live in a broken world, and life doesn’t always feel fair. I’m sure we all have walked through situations where things didn’t seem fair. What do you do when some of the things we face in life seem unfair? I stand for justice, integrity, etc., and I get disappointed and upset when things are unfair. I just learned recently that there are some situations I have control over and some unfairness or injustice that I don’t.
I can either get upset about the situation and fight for it or give it to God, who is a better judge. That doesn’t mean we must be quiet in those situations; we can share our concerns and leave the outcome to God. When we fight for justice over something we don’t control, we will only get frustrated when we don’t get the outcome we want, even though the outcome we expect might be the right thing.
As I was going through a situation in my life recently that seemed unfair, God showed me this verse, according to Psalm 98, “Before the Lord, for He is coming to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness And the peoples with fairness” (New American Standard Bible).” That verse helped me give that situation over to God, knowing He will bring justice and fairness in situations we don’t have control over.
When we release that to God, we stop carrying the burden of making things right; instead, we let God fight that battle on our behalf us. That helps us live in peace, knowing that God is taking care of it and will make things right, either the way we expect Him to work or the way He wants. Either way, we can trust God, who knows everything we are going through and knows what’s best for each one of us.
When we give it to God, we can experience His freedom while living in this broken world.
According to Matthew 11:29-30, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light.” (New American Standard Bible).
