There are seasons when God gives us a dream, but the path is not always clear, and we may not see how it will all come together. Even after praying, we can still lack clarity, and at times it may even feel like God is silent.

During those times, it’s easy to feel restless and try to speed things up so we can reach the dream God has given us. Last Sunday’s sermon at church was about the miracle at the wedding in Cana, when Jesus’ mother, Mary, told Him about the shortage of wine. Jesus responded that His time had not yet come. From the outside, it seemed like it was the right time for a miracle because they were running out of wine. But from God’s perspective, it was not time yet. We may not fully understand why Jesus felt it was not the right time, but Mary trusted Him, and He went on to perform the miracle of turning water into wine.

The same can be true in our lives. We may be waiting for answers from God in certain areas, but what if it simply is not the right time, or even the right move? It is safer to move with God, not ahead of Him or behind Him. That’s why it’s important to surrender our desires to God and take steps only as He leads. I came across a quote by Craig Groeschel that really stood out to me, “Don’t miss what you have now pursuing what you want later”. One thing I’m learning is that when we don’t have all the answers about our future, we need to be all that God created to be in the place where we are stay where we are until God reveals the next step.

It’s okay to have desires, but at the end of the day, we need to surrender them to God, trusting that He knows what’s best for us and that His timing is always perfect.

According to Proverbs 19:21, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” (English standard Version)
