Sometimes, we might experience situations in our lives that might feel as if God is absent. I have been walking through one of those seasons where I have prayed, hoping God would make a way. Instead, I only saw one obstacle after another. During those times, it’s easy to think as if God completely forgot about me.

My husband and I recently needed to catch a flight to Nashville on a Saturday morning. We planned to leave around 6:00 A.M. to catch the 8:20 A.M. flight. We both were so tired that night that he forgot to set an alarm, and I slept through my alarm. When I don’t set an alarm on a Saturday morning, the earliest I have woken up is usually around noon. But that day, I woke up suddenly at 5:35 A.M. without any alarm. I don’t have any other explanation but to think God woke me up. We quickly got ready, left around 6:30 A.M, and made it to the gate on time.

I was already surprised by what had happened in the morning, but God was not done yet, and he had more things waiting for me. As we boarded the plane, we randomly sat next to a lady who was also a believer. We started talking about God and ended up chatting until we reached Nashville. I felt like this was a divine appointment from God. That sweet lady encouraged me and shared her story about walking in faith and how God showed up in her life when she fully trusted God.

After going through a challenging few months, getting woken up in the morning to catch the flight and having these divine appointments gave me a glimpse of hope that God actually cares about me and the details of my life, even though I don’t always feel that way. It was as if God was telling me, “I got you; I care about you,” which made me cry. He cared enough to wake me up from sleep so we didn’t miss the flight, and He put people on my flight to encourage me to trust God then how much more He cares about our future. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (New International Version).

If you are walking through a season where you feel as though God is absent, I want to encourage you with this song that the sweet lady on the plane told me about. It’s about God’s goodness and faithfulness. We can always trust God even when we don’t feel it because He is working behind the scenes.
According to According to Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (New American Standard Bible).

“When did I start to forget
All of the great things You did?
When did I throw away faith for the impossible?
How did I start to believe
You weren’t sufficient for me?
Why do I talk myself out of seeing miracles?
You are more than able.
You are more than able.
(You are, You are) You are more than able (yeah)
(We’ve seen it) You are more than able
Who am I to deny what the Lord can do?
It’s easy for You, oh
And now I see all that I have
Oh, I’ve got my confidence back
I put my trust in the One who still does miracles
You do miracles (come on, sing).”

The friendship between me and the sweet lady on the plane continues, and her name is Diana. She was on her way to get her puppy from Tennessee, and she just sent a message saying the dog’s middle name was going to Priscilla because of the encounter she had on her way and also because of her love for Elvis Presley and his wife. See below a picture of the message she had sent and her new puppy, Miss Piper Priscilla.
